Vita Come Sempre

As I pour over my images taken in Florence, I begin to wish I were back there, swerving between slow pedestrians (specially the touristi) and small cars, mopeds, buses etc on my bicycle.  I often fall in the habit (like all of us) of forgetting  any negative aspects of life gone by, especially when looking through photos taken in those days at the end of summer when the light was good from dawn to dusk. Its easy to forget the mosquitos that bite you through your covers in your sleep and the short, constantly rainy days of November, but thats another story.

Here are some photos from those days.

I love an old school motorcycle like this, even if its not that nice.

And love it even more if it is that nice.

But that's the thing I found about Florence; one minute you're wearing fancy Channel boots riding on a B.A. motorcycle...

or awesomely classic Vespa...
(the word vespa actually means wasp in  italian, and once you're in Italy for  a while it becomes very obvious why)

and the next moment you're left with the pitiful remains of your transportation and have to run in your ever-so-chic clothes to make it to your destination on time. I know life has it's ups and downs for everybody everywhere, but it seemed more intense to me in Italy.

I don't really know how I'd fit these photos of a really wonderful store display with chrome animal skulls into a post

so I thought I'd put 'em in the end of this one.

Valligiani

I thought it'd be nice to share some shots of everyday Florentines on the street

By the way,Valligiani is the name for people of who live in a valley, like the Florentines

Lucca

I know when most take a trip to Italy, it's usually only about 1-2 weeks, and with such a limited amount of time its understandable that they may only see the highlights Rome, Venice, Florence etc. But if you happen to be in Italy (particularly Tuscany) for an extended amount of time, I say GO TO LUCCA! It is definitely one of my favorites among the towns I've visited.

As I recall, it was a Sunday, so almost everything was closed, but I love Lucca for its beautiful integration of architecture and nature.

Lucca is one of the only (if not the only) town in Italy that still maintains 100% of its wall around the city.

The photo above illustrates how the people of Lucca have turned their city wall into a park that circles the town.

I was there just in time to see the colorful leaves before they fell completely.

The crazy part is that it rained 3/4 of the time I was there and I still loved it.
